Saturnian Human Resident Movement - SHRM

About SHRM

The Saturnian Human Resident Movement (SHRM) is comprised of astronomers, phsycists and several types of engeneers. Our main goal is to make it possible to establish a colony on Saturn. To advance this movement, our current objective is to gather relevent data that will help us to better understand Saturn and it's natural satellites so we can develop equipment and procedures that will be of benefit in all sorts of extended space travel. Our findings and our equipment are a benefit to NASA and other countries' space programs that work internationally with NASA.

As a non-profit organization, SHRM has composed an array of tools, systems and applications that would greatly decrease the cost of building and maintaining a spacecraft that is capable of sustaining human life. These tools are targeted at long term space travel but can also be implemented in short term missions.

Our Members

Jason Yu (co-founder)

After three years of attending the University of Vermont, I began my internship at NASA. Upon obtaining my baccalaureate degrees in mathematics and engeneering, NASA employed me as an Engineering Technician (GS-802) which brought me into contact with several people who would later became members of SHRM.

Several of my solutions and productions were implemented in NASA projects. Some examples of my work are the wheel bearings for the Mars Exploration Rovers, designed to withstand the errid Mars heat and rugged turrain. Another product was the collaborative design of the solar panels for The Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment (SORCE) satellite mission.

College(s): University of Vermont
Degrees: Bachelor of Engeneering (BEng), Bachelor of Math (BMath)

Greg Steiner (sysop)

One of the younger members of SHRM, I have not had any official work experience with NASA. Two years years of NASA Space Camp has helped encourage my interest in space exploration. While I do have a voice in the organization, my main priority and focus is on the web presence and our web communications system operations.

Starting in early 2010, I began planning for this website, so others can learn more about our organization. My development of the members only area has allowed members to share findings and technical data in an organized fashion. To further SHRM's communications to the realms of social networking, I have created a Facebook page where Facebook members can learn more about us and communicate with us easily. These two implementations, alone have greatly broadened our listening audience.

College(s): Kaplan University KHE in Davenport, IA
